We’re happy to host a Contributor Day at WordCamp Minneapolis St. Paul on Sunday, August 6, 2017. This event is open to conference attendees at no additional charge—just wear your lanyard with tickets for Friday and/or Saturday.

Volunteer contributors are key to the success of WordPress, and Contributor Days are for everyone, on every experience level, with any interest in helping with the WordPress project.  Become a part of the community that makes and supports our open source software system that runs 28% of the web.

You don’t have know how to code. There are a variety of roles to fill and many projects where you can be involved:  Accessibility, CLI, Community, Core, Design, Documentation, Flow, Marketing, Meta, Mobile, Plugins, Polyglots, Support, Themes, Training, TV. Find out more about all the contributor groups at Make WordPress.

Young man and young woman with laptops at WordCamp MinneapolisWe’ll start the day with a general session on how to become a WordPress contributor. Contributor Day will also feature Breakout Groups for networking and discussion about working with WordPress and in the web industry. Bring your passion, find your tribe, and see how you can benefit from the WordPress community and give back to the project.

It’s a little work and a lot of fun!

WordCamp MSP Social & Networking Events

We on the WordCamp Minneapolis / St Paul organizing team know that conferences aren’t just about the incredible sessions, helpful sponsor booths, or crave-worthy swag. WordCamps are built on cultivating relationships, and we are providing plenty of opportunities to do so during our social events.

Everyone’s schedule and social preference is different, so this year based on feedback we are excited to provide a couple of options for networking outside of our general conference sessions. Join us for both or just one, but we hope to see you there!

Friday: Coffee Social

Wrap up your WordCamp MSP Friday with a Coffee Social, presented by LuminFire, immediately following sessions in the Humphrey Atrium! Sample light refreshments and delicious local coffee (and other non-alcoholic beverages) while you rub elbows with presenters, chat with sponsors, and network with your fellow WordCamp attendees. We will have games and other fun activities available, or space to just hang out and talk. Then, get to bed early so you’re ready for Saturday’s sessions* or go explore what the Twin Cities have to offer!
*Recommended, but not required!

Saturday: WordCamp MSP After Party

After we bring our last day of general sessions to a close, come unwind with our friends at Rocket55 as they open their fabulous offices up for the WordCamp MSP After Party! Kick back after a day full of learning and relax with new and old friends. Appetizers and drinks will be served. Didn’t get a question answered at a panel? Speakers will be there too! Network with your fellow WordCampers, sample the food, enjoy fun & games, and enter to win fabulous door prizes. We can’t wait to see you!

Announcing the WordCamp MSP Schedule

For everyone who has been anxious to see what kind of exciting sessions will be offered at WordCamp Minneapolis / St. Paul this year, wait no more! Our preliminary weekend schedule, which includes our normal Friday/Saturday sessions and our Sunday Workshops and Contributor Day events, is now live!

Who is speaking?

The schedule is subject to change, so check back often as we get closer to the event, but we are extremely excited to showcase this talented lineup of local and national speakers presenting on a range of development, design, content strategy, business development, and website management topics. We’ll be adding more speaker bios and interviews in the weeks leading up to WordCamp so you can get to know them even better.

What topics can we expect?

Many of the topics on Friday are geared to a full-time WordPress professional and business audience, where the topics on Saturday are geared towards hobbyists, website managers, and people looking to transition into a deeper level of WordPress knowledge, but we think that both days offer something for people at every skill level! There is something each day for developers, designers, writers, business owners, strategists, and new WordPress users alike.

This is great, now what?

Check back for more announcements about our lineup of lightning talks, keynote panels, and fun social/networking events happening over the weekend! And of course, buy your ticket if you haven’t already. We hope to see you there!
